The manner in which Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced his campaign for 2017 leaves little doubt that the Samajwadi Party could be heading for a vertical split. The timing of Akhilesh Yadav's vikas rath yatra two days before the party's silver jubilee has confounded both partymen and political pundits.

It would be worth mentioning here that Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had announced that the silver jubilee celebrations of the party would be held at Janeshwar Mishra park on November 5. There are chances that Akhilesh Yadav will not attend the celebrations.

The division in the party is apparent as team Akhilesh is nowhere to be seen at the State party headquarters and he has given a new address to his team members: the office of Janeshwar Mishra trust .

So much so that the entire youth brigade and senior leaders issued the statement that they too would not attend the silver jubilee celebrations.

Team Akhilesh is very upset as its key members including several legislators who were expelled from the party that have yet not been taken back . Team Akhilesh has asked as to why action was taken against those close to the Chief Minister and  no action was taken against supporters of party president Shivpal Yadav who were raising slogans against another uncle of Akhilesh, Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav.

Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav too has written a letter to Mulayam Singh Yadav that Akhilesh Yadav should be projected as Chief Minister or the party would not get even 100 seats. Now it is to been as to how the party supremo will face the challenge from his own son Akhilesh Yadav who is very unhappy with uncle Shivpal Yadav who removed all those who were close to his nephew.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who gave the impression that he was fighting corruption and criminalisation in politics was embarrassed when Mulayam Singh Yadav announced that tainted minister Gaya Prasad Prajapati would be convenor of the silver jubilee celebrations.

It would be worth mentioning here that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had sacked two ministers Gaya Prasad Prajapati and Rajkishore on the issue of corruption charges but Mulayam Singh Yaav forced him to  take back not only Prajapati but two other ministers also who had been sacked a few months back.

There are indications that Akhilesh may not attend the meeting of district presidents  convened by party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on October 24.Moreover chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has urged the party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav that all those his supporters sacked should be taken back in the party.

During his meeting with Mulayam Singh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Yadav yesterday, Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav made it clear that he should be projected as the Chief Ministerial face of the party and also that he should have a say in ticket distribution. Akhilesh also maintained that he would not share the electoral platform with controversial leader Amar Singh.
