Sheena Bora murder case: Dark Chocolate gets darker

It must come as no surprise to those who have been following the case that the Sheena Bora murder case has now been turned into a movie; albeit a tacky one. Called Dark Chocolate it stars Riya Sen as Sheena Bora and Mahima Choudhary as Indrani herself. Shot in an extremely salacious manner it has all the trappings of a badly made movie. The circle of gossip has perhaps come full circle. Despite the Police formally charging Peter Mukerjea with murder, conspiracy and destruction of evidence there remain several unanswered questions around the Sheena Bora murder case.
The most obvious question is how is it possible that no husband knew the existence of Sheena and Mikhail as Indrani’s daughter and son respectively. Peter Mukerjea claims innocence in this regard and has gone on record saying that he blindly believed his wife when she introduced Sheena as her sister. People who know the Mukerjeas say that they all knew about Sheena as Indrani’s daughter, so can we really believe Peter’s statement? Doubts also persist with Peter Mukerjea telling investigators that he had seen photos of Sheena in the US on Indrani’s Facebook profile. Incidentally, Sheena’s Facebook account was deactivated in December 2011. The Mumbai police claim Sheena Bora was killed by Indrani, Sanjeev Khanna the ex husband and Shyamvar Rai, the driver. How do they know the body was hers if they disposed off it two years ago without keeping any DNA reports or evidence?
It is further alleged that Indrani provided the US number of Sheena to her friends. If they did call or text her on that number, was Indrani the one replying and impersonating her daughter? Who bought the US SIM card? Sheena also called off her relationship with Rahul via a text message. Did Indrani do it to break them up? Sheena Bora worked as an HR professional at the Reliance ADAG Metro Rail. It is safe to say that she had no prior warning of being murdered, so who signed the resignation documents on her behalf? Does Reliance have a letter stating her resignation? Will Forensics be able to verify the signature? Now the most obvious question which crops up is the motive of the murder. It is alleged that Indrani and Peter had funneled huge sums of money at the time of their company 9X Media’s audit to Sheena. If this is true then was this money funneled through illicit channels? Then there is also the question of inaction. Why did her brother Mikhail or her grandparents not file a police complaint while she was missing for three years. For someone who had her roots in small-time India, Indrani Mukerjea had come a long way.
A permanent member of the high-society in Mumbai for several years, the Mukerjeas never gave a hint of their murky past. Was it the illicit money stolen from the companies they had headed which led to the murder of the young Sheena? The Mukerjea couple were considered someone whom the high and mighty of the land would have loved to court till a few months ago. Now, they are condemned goods. Anyway, watch the Mukerjea story unspool, bit by shocking bit. Even the best Bollywood script writer could not have conjured up the twists and turns emerging about the double life of the Mukerjeas, murderers by night and respectable citizens by day. The badly made trailer of Dark Chocolate is proof.
