Assembly Elections: Tripura polls on Feb 18, Nagaland, Meghalaya on Feb 27, counting March 3

The Election Commission today announced a two-rounds poll schedule for Assembly Elections for Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland with elections in Tripura scheduled on February 18 and that for Nagaland and Meghalaya on February 27.
The counting of votes for all the three states would be held on March 3.Addressing a news conference here, Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti said there will be two rounds of polling in these states, adding that EVM and VVPAT will be used in all the three states.
'Counting of votes for all the three states will be on March 3,' Mr Joti said.
Joti said the notification for Tripura Assembly polls will be issued on January 24. The last date of filing of nominations will be on January 31, scrutiny of nominations will be on February 1 and the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be on February 3.He said elections in all the three states have to be completed before March 5.
Announcing the poll schedule for Meghalaya and Nagaland, he said notification for polls in the two states will be issued on January 31. The last date of filing nominations for the two states will be on February 7, scrutiny of nominations will be on February 8 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures will be on February 12.
The Chief Election Commissioner said all critical events will be videographed.
He said Model code of conduct comes into force with immediate effect in all the three states and it will be applicable to all the state governments and it will be applicable to the Union Government for policy-related issues in these states.
He also said that the final publication of electoral rolls has been done and added that the total number of electors as per the final rolls for Meghalaya is 18, 30, 104, for Nagaland, it is 11, 89, 264 and for Tripura, it is 25,69, 216.
